Cone’s Dale Experience


Cone’s dale experience is a model that incorporates several theories related to instructional design and learning processes. Dale theorized that learners retain more information by what they do to heard, read or observed.  His research led to the development of the Cone of Experience.
Today, this “learning by doing” has become known as “experiential learning” or “action learning”. In Cone’s dale experience, students will be able to do at each level of the Cone (the learning outcomes they will be able to achieve) relative to the type of activity they are doing (reading, hearing, viewing images, etc.).
Dale believes that people generally remember 10 % what they read, 20% what they hear, 30% what they see, 50% what they hear and see-video, 70% what they say or write, and 90% what thee say as they do something.
It means that learning will be more successful if the learners experience what they are learned. But it doesn’t means that reading, listening and so on is not important. Dale’s Cone emphasizes learning experiences that appeal to the different senses and the different ways in which we learn. We can conclude that cone's dale experience is about the division of Dale’s believed about learning process. The learners will get success in learning if they do the experience by themselves.

  • ·         Cooperative is a learning system which the learners learn together in a small group. They have different level of ability and every student learn one topic or goal and share what they get from or about the topic or goal.
  • ·         Collaborative is a learning system which the learners learn in group and every student have their own “genre”, their must responsible with it and they have doing their part and combine all the answer.

Behavior, Cognitivism, and Constructivism in ICT

Behavior, Cognitivism, and Constructivism in ICT.
  • Behaviorism is a theory of learning that the result of learning is the change of learners’ behavior. The learners learn by getting stimulus gradually and after that, they give response and make their learning as their behavior. In ICT, the student can improve their capability or knowledge with ICT because as a tools to get many information. It is so helpful for them to become diligent.
  • Cognitivism is a theory of learning that the result of the learning is the change of learners’ understanding. They not only focus on what happen with behavior but also focus on the understanding of the topic. This theory is development of behaviorism theory. And involves examining learning, memory, problem solving skills and intelligence. In ICT, it can help student to do their task and can motivate their to explore ideas.
  • Constructivism is a theory of learning which students not only change their behavior and understanding, but also creating their own understanding. This theory comes because of the believe that learning is cannot be transferred from somebody but from their own understanding that comes from their experience. In ICT, it helps students to create new things by using software like games.
